| For years Miyamoto Musashi--the most legendary of
all the Samurai warriors--traveled the island of Japan as a "Ronin" (Wandering
Samurai), seeking enlightenment via his dedication to "Kendo" (The Way of the
Sword). |
Famous for his
"Niten Ryu" style of fencing, which utilized his unique technique of fighting
with two swords simultaneously, he engaged in dozens of matches and was said to never have
lost a match. |
Musashis most
famous duel was against his arch rival Sasaki Kojiro, who he defeated with the use of a
wooden sword that he fashioned from the oar of a boat. Legend holds that Musashi became so
proficiently invincible that he eventually fought using only these wooden swords
("Bokken"). |
