Brilliance and Mercy is part of
Caroline Young's series The Twelve Immortals, portraying the twelve
animals of the Chinese Zodiac Calender. My brilliance and
cleverness is yet unmatched. I am charming, quick witted, imaginative, and
mischievous. " I am the Monkey." The Godess of Mercy,
Kwan Yin, watches over the playful Monkey God. A gold band was placed around
the Monkey's head by the gods to help keep him out of trouble. Whenever he
would begin to cause trouble in the heavens, the gold band would tighten, giving him a
headache and halting his misbehavior.
He also carries a Golden Staff that is magical; he can make it
so small that he can hide it behind his ear. Then he can bring it out when he needs it.
To make him atone for his misdeeds, the gods appointed him protector of Kwan Yin. |
