Vietnamese Embroidery - is a tradition that dates back to Chinese culture and the sixteenth century when it was then a skill that women were expected to pursue. It is a tradition that the young women of Vietnam are continuing today with great pride and masterful technique. To see these beautifully detailed works of art certainly makes one
appreciate the skill and patience it takes to create them.
To see the women creating these images takes appreciation to a much higher level. It is very tedious, meticulous work that must be performed with extreme precision. The small pictures take one girl an average of three weeks to complete. The very large pictures can take four girls working together as much as three months.
